Spirit Animal symbolism has deep roots in history, religion and many different cultures. Spirit Animal symbolism goes much deeper than the traditional meanings that are readily available. Animal guides serving as our Spirit Animals, Totem Animals, and Power Animals are just the beginning.
Spirit Animals, in the traditional sense, represent our Animal Guides through our life journey. It is believed that we are born with a specific animal by our side who stays with us throughout our lives, guiding us on our path. While other traditions believe that we have more than one animal guiding us on our life journey.
The concept is that our Spirit Animals are connected to our soul, residing in our inner world, communicating with us through our subconscious or inner self. They can alert us to their presence both in the physical world as well as through our inner landscape, such as through dreams or during meditation.
In spiritual tradition, Spirit Animals serve as our spiritual guides through life. They symbolize our spiritual landscape and serve as a symbolic representation of our inner self. Representing the deeper parts of ourselves and our connection with the Divine.
Our Spirit Animal guides can see what we cannot, they do not have the veil of the physical world blinding them. If we are open to their guidance, they possess the innate wisdom to help us navigate and learn our Soul Life Lessons while we are here on Earth.
In the traditional sense, Totem Animals hold specific birth representation for each of us as individuals. Some traditions ascribe to the belief that from an astrological perspective, our Spirit Animal is a mirror image of us.
However, Totem Animals have several expressions. They represent individuals who personally ascribe to the characteristics of their Spirit Animal, and they also represent characteristics, traits and archetypal patterns that are universal and connect to us all.
At times our Spirit Animal guides are trying to get our attention to alert us to a behavior we need to look at more in depth, or they may be sending messages of encouragement and support as we change our own individual qualities on the self-improvement path.
In the traditional sense, Power Animals represent the powerful and positive traits of an animal. In a richer, more symbolic sense, Power animals are much deeper as they also represent our light archetypes and shadows. Working with Power animal symbolism can shine a light on our shadows, so our archetypes become a liberating force in our lives.
As we work with Spirit, Totem and Power Animal symbolism we can navigate our spiritual path, find our individual connection to our Spirit Animals, and draw courage and strength from their power. We can navigate change in our life and find a path to healing.
In the coming months I will relaunch the Spirit Animal Symbolism page to include additional connections to Inner Child work, Shadow/Archetype work, and the Chakra Energy System. These areas connect to childhood development and are key areas throughout our lives where we are to learn our Soul Life Lessons. Be sure to subscribe to the newsletter to stay informed!
